Michigan and the Great Lakes region are the world's largest freshwater ecosystem containing 25% of the planets available freshwater. Non-polluted freshwater is critical to human health and our economy. Over 7-billion dollars annually of our region's economy is a result of our proximity to the Great Lakes. In the interest of maintaining our community health and economy, it is of critical importance that we protect Michigan's freshwater.
