Printed Manifest, June 21, 1819, upon departure from Mackinac (Mich.) to Black Rock, N.Y. The manifest lists the vessel's master, Job Fish, vessel's burthen (or tonnage) at 338 60/95, a list of marks and numbers branded into goods, number of packages/contents shipped, names of shippers and consigners, and for both their place of residence. The cargo included: barrels of sugar, fish, dry goods, nails, ham, and one package of furs, from eight shippers (men or companies), each with their own brand or mark, to five buyers (also men or companies). At the bottom it states that Captain Fish gave his oath that the above maifest was correct and was granted permission at the Custom-House, Mackinac, June 2, 1819 to proceed with his vessel and cargo to Black Rock, N. Y. The custom house officer is not identified. Names, marks, amounts and types of cargo, dates, locations are added in handwriting in ink. On the reverse of the original is printed that Job Fish, Master of the vessels swears to the truth of the manifest and that it was all legally imported to the United States with duties paid or secured. At the top is a finely detailed, professional drawing of the vessel underway, showing sails full and steam funnel pumping smoke.
